Kaleidostone
Berti I‑Wood Cladding – Kaleidostone. Diesel Living with Berti Collection
Product Overview
Kaleidostone from Berti’s I‑Wood collection is a contemporary wood cladding system designed to merge traditional craft with modern digital precision. Developed in collaboration with Diesel Living, this product features a distinctive geometric motif that echoes the patterns of natural minerals and abstract kaleidoscopic formations. Each panel functions as both surface and statement—elevating walls and ceilings into bold architectural features.
Printed using water-based digital technology directly onto oak veneer, Kaleidostone preserves the natural grain of the timber while adding layered visual complexity. The patterning is precise yet organic, with tonal variation and structural depth that lends itself to both minimalist and expressive interiors.
Material Construction
Kaleidostone is built as a high-performance, lightweight engineered panel consisting of:
- A 0.6 mm top layer of European oak veneer
- A 9 mm birch plywood core for structural stability
- A 0.6 mm balancing veneer on the reverse side
The total thickness of just 10.2 mm makes it particularly well-suited to vertical applications or any space where minimizing build-up is critical. Panels are manufactured in a uniform 600 × 600 mm format, offering modularity and ease of installation across large surface areas or feature zones.
Technical Features
Kaleidostone is engineered for both design impact and technical durability. Key certifications and features include:
- Fire classification BFL-s1 under UNI EN 13501-1:2019 (suitable for public interiors)
- CE marking in accordance with UNI EN 14342:2013
- Complies with UNI EN 71-3 (low emission and toy safety)
- High abrasion resistance and structural integrity, suitable for medium to high-traffic applications
- Eco-conscious construction with formaldehyde emissions well below regulatory thresholds
All finishes and adhesives used in the manufacturing process are low-emission and environmentally safe.
Design Applications
Kaleidostone is ideal for both commercial and residential interiors that require surface materials with architectural character. Common applications include:
- Feature walls in hospitality or retail environments
- Ceiling installations in restaurants, galleries, or public lobbies
- Decorative panelling for boutique offices, foyers, or creative studios
- Accent cladding in private homes or high-end multi-residential projects
Its lightweight composition and modular sizing make it highly adaptable for renovation projects or new builds. While primarily intended for interior use, it can also be considered for light-duty flooring in low-traffic zones where design is a priority.
Suitability for the Australian Market
Kaleidostone aligns with contemporary Australian interior design values—natural materials, tonal restraint, and textural complexity. Its sustainable production and fire-rated certification make it appropriate for a wide range of public and private interior spaces.
Designers and architects should ensure local compliance with Australian National Construction Code (NCC) requirements, particularly regarding fire performance in commercial applications. Its low profile and weight make it practical for use in heritage refurbishments, joinery overlays, and retrofit installations.
